Trudi Suverkrubbe was born and raised in a small village in England. After marrying an American soldier during World War II she moved to Chehalis, WA and started her new life. In the early 1960's she began working in an antique shop owned by Tad and Regina Dowling called the Glass House. Her brother, Les, an English antiques dealer, began sending shipping containers of antiques to them for sale. Trudi always kept a few pieces for herself. She was a natural salesperson and entrepreneur and used these skills to manage and eventually own Bartel's Women's Shoppe, an upscale women's clothing store in Chehalis. She owned and operated this business for many years. A life of antiques and clothing left Trudi's home full of interesting collectibles, antiques and vintage women's clothing, many never having been worn with the tags still attached. She also collected many items associated with England, the birth-home she always loved. Trudi was very fashion conscious to her last days and there are dozens of earrings, necklaces and other accessories as well.
